NEA Reports Over Rs 9 Billion Profit in First Quarter

Kathmandu: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has recorded a profit of Rs 9.11 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, prior to tax deductions.
The total income, including interest and other revenue, from mid-July to mid-September stood at Rs 41.80 billion, while the expenditure amounted to Rs 32.69 billion, according to NEA.
Of the expenditure, Rs 32.69 billion was allocated for operational and maintenance costs. Revenue from electricity sales through various distribution centers reached Rs 28.95 billion during the period.
NEA purchased a total of 4.10 billion units of electricity from its own generation facilities, subsidiary companies, and private producers. Managing Director Kulman Ghising reported that Rs 21.09 billion was paid for these purchases.
The profit reflects NEA's robust financial performance, showcasing its capacity to manage operational efficiency and revenue generation effectively.
